Isaac was born in 1968 in Barcelona where he studied architecture before switching to fashion. In 1991, after finishing his degree, he started working for Antonio Miro on the men’s collections.

In the late nineties, his curiosity and quest for quality took him to Paris. Isaac Reina joined Hermès in 1998 at the men’s ready-to-wear studio directed by Véronique Nichanian. There, he worked on the entire male wardrobe at the exception of accessories.

In 2006, he launched his eponymous line of leather bags and accessories, while also collaborating with established fashion houses such as Martin Margiela and Balenciaga.

The same year, the Isaac Reina store opened in “Le Marais” district in Paris, now located 12 rue de Thorigny, in the vicinity of the Picasso Museum.

Alongside its own stand-alone store and eshop, the brand is also distributed through an international selective network of about sixty resellers, mainly luxury, fashion and design multi-brand stores: Andreas Murkudis (Berlin), Mouki Mou (London), Mameg (Los Angeles), La Garçonne (New York), The Broken Arm (Paris),  Inform Interiors (Vancouver), Song (Vienna)… to name a few.

Isaac Reina’s products attract a unique international clientele, demanding and well-informed, in pursuit of a simple and timeless vision of luxury.

INSPIRATION

A signature both minimalistic and high-end, contemporary and artisanal, as opposed to ostentatious and short-lived fashion:

“I am trying to make very simple goods, very normal, without any pretention. Almost industrial, mass market shapes, but handcrafted, giving priority to the quality. I am trying to forget the traditional iconography used for luxury. What matters is: a beautiful material, a beautiful manufacturing and the right proportions (elementary principles, essential ones, but too often forgotten). Only the details we need. Nothing else. The hard task to always simplify, again and again. Maybe a non-design concept after all, almost invisible. Like taking time to get some rest, to take a breath of fresh air. No innovation at any price. Trying to avoid too many effects, to keep the essential: the function. Looking for a type of natural and unsophisticated beauty.” Isaac Reina. 

Minimalistic shapes, elegant and understated, inspired by design and architecture:

“Industrial aesthetics, basic packaging, die-cutting, paperboard folding... Certain masters of architecture and design inspire my work, in particular: Alvar Aalto, Arne Jacobsen, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Jeanneret, Jean Prouvé, Dieter Rams, Enzo Mari, Naoto Fukasawa, Jasper Morrison, Martin Szekely, Pierre Charpin... However, my biggest inspiration is essentially geometry, to put it simply.” Isaac Reina.
